When Reveille was a year old her herd was rounded up by the BLM.  She was separated from her herd members and sent to a BLM sale in Florida.  At some point during the trailer ride to Florida, Reveille sustained a significant injury to her face. When she was unloaded at the sale she had a horrible large gash on the side of her face.  Fortunately, there was a family at the auction that day, that was looking to adopt a horse.  Once they saw Reveille, they immediately called a vet and filled out the paperwork to adopt her.
Reveille was safe and happy in her new home for the next two years.  Then when she was three years old, she was sent to a trainer in Carmel Valley, California who had a good reputation.  The trainer started to work with Reveille and found that there were a lot of things that caused Reveille to panic.  She was unpredictable due to her panic response to things such as cars and trucks driving by, loud noises, and ropes any where near her.  At one point she panicked so badly that she ran through a fence and got out onto a busy street.  Over the next few months her owners tried multiple other trainers who were excellent, but Reveille did not improve.  All the trainers agreed that Reveille was not safe for the family to have as a riding horse.
Reveille’s last trainer contacted Redwings and after careful consideration we agreed to accept her.  Since her arrival Reveille has calmed down a lot and enjoys life at the sanctuary.  She lives with two other BLM mustangs in a large pasture.
