Oliver was seized by San Luis Obispo County Animal Services in December 2018 along with 34 other horses, all in poor condition. Redwings assisted the county in care recommendations and agreed to take Josie, Oliver, and Cooper, who were in the worst condition.

Oliver is a Paso Fino gelding, who was a body score 2 and approximately 18 years of age at the time he was seized. Oliver had horrible eye infections in both eyes, he was also covered in lice, and had a huge distended abdomen. Further testing showed that Oliver’s liver values were off, he had fluid in his abdomen, and he had a bad parasitic infection of Onchocerca worms causing more skin and eye problems. Oliver is the most fragile of the rescues from this case. Josie, Oliver, and Cooper are sweethearts despite all they have been through and have made significant progress under Redwings’ care refeeding regime.
