Clever Edition is a sweet and kind Thoroughbred. He is Texas-bred, raced 17 times, placing 3 times. We do not know what happened to Clever Edition or what owners he may have had after his racing career was over, but when we heard about Clever Edition, he was headed to an auction with a very uncertain future.

Fortunately, our partner rescue in Southern California, Auction Horse Rescue, was able to pay the bail for Clever Edition and keep him from going to the auction. Once he arrived at Redwings we had him checked over by our vet. His enlarged knee was X rayed showing at some point Clever Edition sustained a fracture in his knee and it was surgically repaired with a screw. X rays were also taken of his front feet so that we could begin some corrective trimming on his overgrown hooves. Clever Edition's left eye was cloudy and the vet determined that he still had some vision, but it is minimal in that eye.
