Hero is a beautiful Kentucky-bred gelding that came to Redwings from the CARMA placement program. Hero is stakes placed and ran against the favorite Dortmund at the peak of his career. Hero broke his maiden in his second race and was campaigning to run in the Kentucky Derby, but he didn’t quite make it. In October of 2017, Hero’s race career ended when he fractured his right front, medial sesamoid, and had to be vanned off the track. Hero was stall-rested and was recently moved to a small pasture to complete his rehab.
Hero is a gentle and easygoing horse. He has been consistently mellow and easy to handle. Hero acts more like an old ranch horse than a racehorse. Hero is now happily adopted.
