The mission of Redwings Horse Sanctuary is to eliminate the causes of equine suffering through education and community outreach programs, rescue abused and neglected equines, and provide permanent sanctuary or selected foster homes for those equines.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Lockwood, California in the coastal region half way between San Francisco and Santa Barbara. Primarily devoted to the well-being of its rescued equines, Redwings operates with a small and dedicated staff. Delilah, the Redwings Equine Care Provider, works with our Registered Veterinary Technician, Michelle Beagle, to handle our horses’ daily medical needs, and call in veterinarians and farriers as needed.

The office staff tracks income and expenses, processes donations and shipments, and give tours to visitors. Three ranch hands take care of the daily needs of the equines every day of the year and help identify problems on the ranch or with our rescued equines.
We also have the use of a small satellite ranch in Prunedale, California, where volunteers take care of all the needs of a few Redwings horses.
All funding of operations comes from donations and grants overseen by the all-volunteer Redwings Board of Directors. The board currently consists of (* indicates officers):
