Redwings Arrival: January 21, 1996
Shadow was born to Whisper while in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) round up pens. Six months later, She and her mother were adopted to a man from Northern California. Her new owner kept the filly and her mother for the mandatory year, received legal title to the mustangs, and then took then to auction.
Shadow and her mother were rescued from the auction and brought to the Sanctuary where they will spend the rest of their lives.
When Shadow first arrived at Redwings, the young filly would not allow anyone to touch her. After much loving care and handling, Shadow has become a friendly, lovable mare. When you enter her pasture, she is one of the first horses to come up to you for attention, usually following you. She loves to have her tail scratched.
When you look at Shadow and her mother, Whisper, it is very difficult to tell them apart. We have discovered that Shadow has a few white hairs at the base of her tail, and also has a tiny snip under the star on her forehead.
